Wine & Wildflowers Workshop

Workshop Leader: DeLania Truly

Benton Downs is offering its first photography workshop for women only in March 2025. Set in the Texas Hill Country, the workshop will allow you to enjoy the beauty of spring wildflowers, wine country, and other great photographic opportunities. The itinerary strongly focuses on the highways and landmarks around Fredericksburg, Marble Falls, and Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area. We will seek great photos throughout the day, with the possibility of capturing an early-season Milky Way.

Late March is often a great time to capture Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes, among other wildflowers. This area also has many beautiful landmarks, wineries, interesting architecture, and history.

I Learned At Least 4 Specific Things

 I’ve tried to photograph the Milky Way in the past but haven’t been happy with the results. In this workshop, I learned at least 4 specific things from David and, using what I learned, got several Milky Way shots that I’m very happy with. Thanks! – Jeff R

Instruction and Independence!

How to tell a story…

The Savannah workshop was a perfect blend of photographic opportunities. We captured the history and the spirit of Savannah through a mix of statues and sweet treats, as well as iconic sites throughout the workshop. I learned a lot about how to tell a story with your photos. Thank you!

Location

Texas Hill Country locations include Marble Falls, Fredericksburg, Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area, Dripping Spring, and Southwest Austin. Departure will be from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Airport pickup may be available at Austin Bergstrom (AUS)..

  • Composition for landscapes and architectural details
  • Macro photography for flowers
  • Focus stacking and Depth of Field
  • Astrophotography (weather permitting)
  • Using filters for landscape and mid-day photography
  • Editing for focus stacking or astrophotography

What's Included

  • A pre-workshop Zoom meeting will be held to support preparation and provide details for the workshop.
  • Post-Workshop Zoom Meeting to share images and editing ideas.
  • The full itinerary for the best locations to photograph landscapes, architectural interests, wineries, and more.
  • Field Instruction and Support, as needed, based on skill level.
  • Hotel for Three Nights (based on double occupancy; single supplement available)
  • Coordinated transportation from the Dallas-Fort Worth area (price includes gas for vehicles)
  • Wine tasting and tour (one winery)
  • One Group Dinner (other meals are on your own). Complimentary breakfast is available at the hotel.

Level of Experience

This workshop is designed for any level of photographer, from beginner to pro. For the beginner, you will receive professional support and instruction based on your current skill level. For the advanced photographer, you can add great images to your portfolio and build new friendships.
