David is an award-winning and Certified Professional Photographer who is passionate about sharing what he’s learned with others, whether they want to create art or simply take better images.
Understanding the creative energy within each person and helping students harness that energy and apply editing techniques to produce remarkable photos/art has proven to be a reason many students take multiple courses with David.
If you spend even a few minutes around David, one thing becomes clear: teaching photography isn’t something he does, it’s who he is. Long before leading workshops across the country and internationally, David naturally found himself guiding, mentoring, and helping others see possibilities they hadn’t yet noticed in themselves. Today, that same instinct fuels every workshop, class, and presentation he leads.
David is a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer with more than 14 years of professional experience creating landscapes, portraits, fine art, and commercial imagery. His work has earned recognition at local, state, and national levels, and he has received honors including Landscape Photographer of the Year from the Dallas Professional Photographers Association and the ASP Southwest District Award, along with selection for national exhibition.
Beyond creating images, David is deeply involved in the photography community. He is the most recent Skills Director for the Dallas Professional Photographers Association, the largest PPA guild in the nation, where he oversees monthly image competitions and mentors photographers pursuing merit-worthy work. He has judged image competitions at club, guild, and state levels and teaches workshops for organizations and conferences nationwide, sharing practical insight on everything from artistic vision to refining technical excellence.
Those who learn from David often remark on his approachable, engaging style. He believes great photography starts not with the camera, but with vision, the ability to recognize light, story, and emotion before the shutter is ever pressed. His mission, whether teaching in a classroom, speaking on stage, or guiding photographers in the field, is simple: help others discover their creative voice and learn how to express it with confidence.
Despite what some would call success in his craft, David continues to pursue that perfect moment captured or raw file transformed into an unforgettable moment. He believes life is a journey of education and exploration…preferably with a camera close at hand.
