Itinerary

Springtime in Savannah Women's Workshop

Day 1

Arrive in Savannah by 2pm and check into the hotel (details provided upon registration).  We will meet around 4pm, go to an early dinner and discover the beauty of Savannah as the sun sets. Our first evening will feature a night shoot at the famous Forsyth Fountain.  While our next few days may change based on weather or other circumstances, the planned adventures are the same.

Day 2

Today features street photography and Historic Sites.  From sunrise to sunset, our group will enjoy the many beautiful sights of Savannah. We will visit historic squares, iconic sites like Forsyth Park, architecture on every corner.  We will enjoy the culinary treats of Savannah, from chocolate to famous restaurants.  Street artists, beautiful churches and statues will charm you and your camera.

Days 3-4

Just outside the heart of the Historic District are more adventures waiting for us. One evening we will have private access to Bonaventure Cemetery, both historic and beautiful.  The grace and charm of this famous site will provide stories from the past and great images in the present.

Midway through the workshop, we escape to Tybee Island, just 20 minutes from the city.  Here, the rhythm slows for you and your camera.  Sandy toes, seagulls, and salty air set the scene for a relaxed morning of coastal photography.  Weather permitting, we will capture a beautiful sunrise by Tybee Pier.  After breakfast, we will explore the beautiful Fort Pulaski National Monument where you can capture images that are both creative and historic.

Each time we are in the Savannah Historic District, we will seek a variety of locations to expand your creativity while providing a culinary experience that only this town can offer.  From riverfront shops and boats, to beautiful streets of cobblestone lined with historic homes, you can capture images that will be different from most workshops.

Departures

The workshop ends at the end of the fourth night, so you can plan departures any time that day.  If you have a later departure, you can return to locations you enjoyed for a few more photographs in the morning.  Or, you can shop for great Savannah souvenirs.

What Our Students Say...

Instruction and Independence!

This was a terrific workshop whether you are a beginner or a more experienced photographer. If I needed help or had a question either David or Barry was right there. If I wanted to wander off and work on my own composition, I could do that. The perfect balance of instruction and independence.

Taking My Photos To Another Level!

This was a great workshop for me. I learned several things that definitely help take my photos to another level.

You Walk Away Learning So Much!

I have attended several photography workshops, including with some National names – this one is a class apart. David and Barry bring their down to earth style to the workshop and you walk away learning so much – while actually taking pictures. This is a hands-on lesson – which makes it really interesting. I would absolutely do a workshop with them again.

One of the very best!

I’ve participated in a number of photographic workshops. This was one of the very best!

Benton Downs meets and exceeds my expectations

My priorities for a workshop are always to see new places, especially at my age, learn something new, get feedback on my compositions in camera, get ideas for compositions or small scenes or creative ideas that I may not be seeing, meet new people, be in a small group, and offer all of that for an affordable investment. Benton Downs meets and exceeds my expectations by going above and beyond by adding in a zoom meeting before and after each workshop, by offering editing or critique advice during or after the workshop, and with their friendliness and caring about each participant. Anything else is a bonus. I would highly recommend BDW as one of the top workshop groups in the country. Thanks Barry and David!

No Matter Your Skill Level, You Won’t Be Disappointed!

Sign up for a workshop! Through the one on one coaching of David and Barry, I came away with more confidence in my ability to get great landscape and astrophotos. No matter your skill level, you won’t be disappointed.
