Itinerary

England & Scotland Photography Workshop

Day 1-3 London & The Cotswolds

Your journey begins with an afternoon arrival in London before heading into the English countryside. By mid-morning on day two, we depart for the Cotswolds, where rolling hills, winding lanes, and historic stone villages provide endless photographic opportunities. Over the next two days, we focus on quiet scenes, layered compositions, and the subtle interplay of light and texture, capturing the character and timeless charm that define this iconic region.

Day 4-6 Cotswolds & Edinburgh

We continue exploring the Cotswolds through sunrise and sunset sessions before transitioning north. After a final morning in the countryside, we travel back to London and board a train to Edinburgh. Upon arrival, we settle into Scotland’s historic capital and begin shifting our focus toward more dramatic landscapes. The visual tone evolves from pastoral simplicity to bold structure, setting the stage for the rugged environments ahead.

Day 7-9 Glencoe & The Highlands

Leaving Edinburgh behind, we enter the Scottish Highlands where scale, texture, and atmosphere take center stage. Based near Glencoe, we explore sweeping valleys, winding roads, and ever-changing weather conditions that create powerful photographic moments. With flexible days built around light and conditions, we’ll work scenes repeatedly, refining compositions and capturing images that reflect the depth, mood, and drama of this remarkable landscape.

Day 10-12 Isle of Skye, Edinburgh & Return to London

Our final days take us to the Isle of Skye, where rugged coastlines, dramatic rock formations, and constantly shifting light create some of the most compelling photographic opportunities of the workshop. We’ll work these locations with flexibility, responding to conditions to capture strong, expressive images. We then return to Edinburgh, transitioning from wild landscapes to historic city scenes, before boarding the train back to London on day eleven for our final overnight stay. The workshop concludes on day twelve with departure from London.

What Our Students Say...

No Matter Your Skill Level, You Won’t Be Disappointed!

Sign up for a workshop! Through the one on one coaching of David and Barry, I came away with more confidence in my ability to get great landscape and astrophotos. No matter your skill level, you won’t be disappointed.

Taking My Photos To Another Level!

This was a great workshop for me. I learned several things that definitely help take my photos to another level.

Instruction and Independence!

This was a terrific workshop whether you are a beginner or a more experienced photographer. If I needed help or had a question either David or Barry was right there. If I wanted to wander off and work on my own composition, I could do that. The perfect balance of instruction and independence.

You Walk Away Learning So Much!

I have attended several photography workshops, including with some National names – this one is a class apart. David and Barry bring their down to earth style to the workshop and you walk away learning so much – while actually taking pictures. This is a hands-on lesson – which makes it really interesting. I would absolutely do a workshop with them again.

One of the very best!

I’ve participated in a number of photographic workshops. This was one of the very best!

Benton Downs meets and exceeds my expectations

My priorities for a workshop are always to see new places, especially at my age, learn something new, get feedback on my compositions in camera, get ideas for compositions or small scenes or creative ideas that I may not be seeing, meet new people, be in a small group, and offer all of that for an affordable investment. Benton Downs meets and exceeds my expectations by going above and beyond by adding in a zoom meeting before and after each workshop, by offering editing or critique advice during or after the workshop, and with their friendliness and caring about each participant. Anything else is a bonus. I would highly recommend BDW as one of the top workshop groups in the country. Thanks Barry and David!
